[iOS] Can't Send to Device using Companion

I just purchased Calibre Companion on my ipad mini. After going through the setup, i get a 'connected' message and a 'starting initial sync' message. During this time, there is no 'send to device' icon in my Calibre, and once the sync message disappears, i am disconnected. I tried the same thing with my iphone 6s with the same results. What is wrong?

Moved thread to calibre companion forum.

I am unsure of the solution, hopefully someone with the proper insight will be by soon to help. Until then here is the link to the CC FAQ.

Odgar, on calibre did you turn on the 'wireless device service' or the 'content manager'? I am betting the initial sync was just checking what you had stored on your iPad. I too didn't realize at the beginning your books or even a catalog are *not* automatically transferred.

Using iOS and the Mac applications I turned on the wireless device service calibre and setup CC as a wireless device and (after turning off my cellular connection and VPNs) highlighted my entire library, right clicked and instructed to send to the main memory. After waiting a few minutes on the first book they are transferring.

Not sure how sync'ing differs between using as a content server or wireless device, or even how to store a catalog on my iPhone as opposed to my library. My goal was to move my books to my phone and be able to use calibre super powers to manage my collection without needing my PC. Having used the app for all of 15 minutes, that has been where my research has been focused.

I hope you found your solution, or at least stick around the MobileReads community as we figure this sh*t out :-)

Get a calibre debug log (not a CC one) and post it here. That will tell us what calibre thinks is happening.

Thanks for the responses! So, I don't know why it made a difference, but when I was trying to get the debug file that @chaley requested, Calibre was able to recognize my device one it restarted in debug mode. Now I can send my books to my ipad just in time to head out to the airport. Thank you so much!

@pizza_cant_read I am using the wireless connection.
