I just bought an Onyx Boox N96ML CARTA+ from an ebay seller.
The unit arrived within a week from a seller in Texas. I wanted a large screen Eink reader with a front light and scribe only input for marking documents while editing and proof reading. I found that this model is a little slow. It takes a few seconds to change from library to open a book or to open an application from the application page. I found the built in reader will handle PDF documents with no problem including the built in dictionary works by highlighting the word which automatically brings up the dictionary control panel and provides the definition of the word. The drawing/writing function works in PDF documents. Put the scribe on the page and press the button on the scribe to start the drawing/writing function. Your drawing and writting will be saved with the document and visible the next time you open it. The Oreader program for EPUB documents does not have a working dictionary and i can't find a copy and paste function so i have to open a dictionary and type in the unknown word to get a definition in this program. The Drawing/writing function does not work with Oreader. I downloaded the Kindle App from Amazon (version 4.15.0.46) and it works slow but correctly. The first time i highlighted a word it wanted to download a dictionary so i had to exit kindle and turn on wifi then re enter kindle to do the download. It worked and now i can do dictioinary look ups by simple highlighting of the word. The drawing/writing function does not work with Kindle. The CART+ screen has the same albedo as my Kindle Paperwhite with the front light off. With the front light on the paperwhite is noticeably brighter when compared side by side. However, the frontlight on the CARTA+ is sufficiently bright to read comfortably in a dark room. Overall, i am happy with the N96ML CARTA+ as a replacement for my Kinle DXG. It is a nice upgrade to get the frontlight and ability to write on the PDF documents for editing. I have no problem creating the PDF in Word to sideload them for editing as opposed to making the EPUB's first. My only disappointment is that the dictionary function does not work on the Oreader software. ![]() Dictionary Problem fix: The dictionary does not work in Oreader however, if i hold the stylus on a book a menu pops up titled Open With: I picked Neoreader instead of Oreader and in this APP the dictionary does work when i highlight a word by holding the stylus on it.
