Red 505

I am planning on getting a 505 as a gift for a friend. I really like the looks of the red reader, however, I started to wonder if this color would interfere with reading? I know, sort of a silly question, but I wouldn't want the color to detract from reading. Any advice?

I do know that this is the reason that Amazon went with plain white for the Kindle.

However, while it might be distracting at the very beginning ... I think you would find over time that you no longer saw the color.

If you really like the red, I would say go with the red. Once you get into reading, the fact that you are reading on an ebook reader stops being the thing in the forefront of your mind, and you just dive right back into the books like you always did with pbooks.

Oh, and PS .... cutest avatar EVER!!!

I agonized over this when I got my 505. Finally decided on the Blue and am perfectly happy with it as I think I'd be with the silver or red.

RickyMaveety is right. You'll get used to whatever color you buy.

I went with blue for that very reason, but in the end it probably doesn't make any difference. Whatever you choose you would quickly get used to.

I chose silver because it looked the best aesthetically to me. I was contemplating the blue but decided against it. Maybe if it was black. Then again, most electronics seem silver. Although whichever color you get as a gift, I'm sure the person won't hate you one way or another for it. They will just love the fact you've allowed them to store hundreds of books in a neat little package! ^_^

I have a red version and it doesn't distract me. It's not a bright red. Very happy with it.
