How to bypass KindleUnlimited when registering?
My new (refurbished) Kindle Basic arrived (couldn't resist the $40 price tag, it looks great) but I still haven't completed the registration. I'm at the screen where it is trying to force me to accept the 30 day free trial of KindleUnlimited. I have ZERO interest in this. Is there any way to bypass this screen without accepting "an offer I can't refuse?" Or do I have to accept the offer and then cancel? If so, this doesn't make me very happy. Too much like when Microsoft tried to force people to upgrade to Windows 10.
EDIT: Another question. Didn't Kindles used to come pre-registered, unless you specifically ordered them as a gift? This Kindle is already showing up in my devices, so I'm guessing the only reason they force you to go through this registration process is to get your name on the KindleUnlimited dotted line. EDIT 2: Well, it looks like I figured out how to get around it. I just held the power button, got to restart, restarted the Kindle and when it booted back in I was in the normal home page. Now I have to check to make they didn't sign me up for Kindle Unlimited anyhow. One More Edit: Okay. I went to Kindle Unlimited and it shows that I "currently don't have it." So, apparently, I was able to avoid signing up for it. Last edited by rcentros; 10-24-2017 at 06:07 PM. |
