Can someone point me to where I can find a Kindle Firmware changelog? I can't seem to locate one.

So there is your chance, you track the changes.
Make it easy, just track the changes since Amazon went to full system images.
Those are still available on the servers.
Download them.
Convert them with KindleTool.
mount the system image file as a loop mount
examine.
report.
