Calibre conversion issues
Hi, I did try searching for the answers, but I can't find them, so here goes.
![]() I converted some books from my Kindle library to my Kobo using Calibre. Most of them converted cleanly. However, one book series converted with all top margins at the absolute top of the page, with an inch or more clear space at the bottom. Not a good look. Also, there was carryover of page numbers from the original, but they are very distractingly placed on the right hand side of the page - and they overwrite the book's text. I tried reading like this, and it's too distracting. Can anyone help me please by telling me the settings to change in Calibre? Thanks in advance. Last edited by Pjama; 09-23-2017 at 10:41 AM. |

Page numbers on the right are controlled by a setting on the device. Goto Settings | Reading Settings and turn off the Show Adobe EPUB page numbers option.

Your second issue is just simply a preference setting in the Kobo. In Reading settings, remove the check mark next to "Show Adobe EPUB page numbers:"
Your first problem with the margins is a bit more difficult. By default output setting, Calibre overwrites page margins in book and replaces them with a default set of 5pts. (You can verify that's still the case for those books, in case you had changed the margin settings in a previous coversion. When you convert the book, click on the "Page Setup" option on left side, and confirm that the margins are all still 5pt.) If the problem is not in the page setup option, then there is some unusual styling code in the book that will have to be manually cleaned up. You can install a "ScrambleEbook" plugin in calibre that will let you create a special version of the book with the text scrambled, which you can post here for help. |

Thanks so much, PeterT and rashkae!
The page number issue was the worst one for me, I can read with the margins the way they are, but not with the pages numbers overwriting. Such a simple fix, but I couldn't find it. Thanks. rashae, I'll see whether the margins are set to 5pt. I don't think I'll take it any further than that though as I don't really want to be doing a lot of editing before I can read it. |

So, I checked and the margins are all at 5pt. I did a reconversion anyway, this time with heuristic processing checked. No difference. So, I'll just put up with the skew-wiff margins - they don't look that bad really (I suppose), and I can read it fine.
