PW3 or Voyage? Will be kept in a cover
I'm thinking of switching to Amazon ecosystem and am deciding between the PW3 and Voyage. I'll be reading only at home, self-adjusting light does not matter to me. I'm also planning on buying a cover for the reader. Which model do you suggest? I heard the PW3 has worse contrast than the Voyage, is that visible? In my Aura H2O the contrast is fine, not sure if the PW3 is comparable.
Are page press buttons and flush screen worth it to get the Voyage? |

The contrast on the Voyage is generally noticeably superior to that on the PW3, but there are differences between individual readers. If you don't have a store nearby where to see them yourself, then it's a bit of a matter of luck. You could get a very good PW3 or a lemon Voyage. But as a rule, the contrast on the Voyage is better. |

After using the H2O with it's 6.8" screen, you may find a 6" screen too small.

I don't use the Page Press or the self adjusting light so feature-wise they're the same device to me. I did try the Page Press for a while and I was surprised by how well it works but I'm so used to swiping I'd usually forget to use it. Eventually I turned it off. I rarely have need to adjust the light's brightness and I found the self-adjusting light overdid it. I turned it off. The things I like about the Voyage are that it's lighter and smaller. I also prefer the power button in the back although with the cover on that doesn't matter as much since opening the cover wakes it up. The thing I like better about the Paperwhite, which took a long time to decide, is the screen's raised bezel. I actually bought the Voyage because of the flush bezel and for the longest time I thought that was it's greatest feature. Over time though I realizes that I found myself accidentally turning a page with the Voyage which I rarely did with the Paperwhite. It doesn't happen often enough to be a problem but it doesn't happen at all with the Paperwhite. All in all I enjoy the Voyage more. If I ever have to replace one I'm not sure which one I'll get. It probably depends on how much money I can spare at the time. All in all in all, a coin toss is a pretty good way to choose between them. ![]() Barry |

I forgot to comment on the screen quality of the two devices. If I put them side by side I can see the difference in color. When I'm reading I never notice it. I have to look at the device to know which one I'm reading on.
Actually my Paperwhite 2 has the best screen of my Kindles. As was said above, this is usually more a product of individual differences than of models. I live in a retirement home and I've helped a lot of my neighbors with their Kindles so I've seen quite a few of them and there are more differences from unit to unit than from model to model. I just don't think it's possible to say one model has a better screen than the other. Barry |

You won't regret it. Books are equally good on my Paperwhite and on my Voyage.
