Upgrade to 5.8.10
Hi,
Apologies if this is answered somewhere else but I am thinking of upgrading my Paperwhite 2 to 5.8.10 and wondered if the jailbreak remains intact following upgrading to this release. Thought it best to check before upgrading! Thanks |

Either newer or older versions. Either factory or customer versions. Or any combination thereof. It is a virus. Think of it as "Kindle Herpes" - once the Kindle has been infected, it is not going away on its own. Last edited by knc1; 08-18-2017 at 11:40 AM. |

Just bought a used Paperwhite 2 and upgraded to 5.8.10. I'm guessing that means no jailbreak possible for this device?

I think 5.8.7 (or something?) was the latest one that you could downgrade to a Jailbreak-able version

Pokin' around for a half hour… wishing there was a "Guide to upgrading jailbroken Kindles"… as a reference. Every few months I have to drudge through the "Jailbreak your Kindle" stuff and remind myself of all the little steps and where a simple firmware upgrade fits in
![]() So lemme see: - go get firmware from Amazon website - install it - reinstall… MRPI? then KUAL? Then whatever hacks (Py, SS, etc…)? (JB'd KOA @ 5.8.9) |
