3.6 "Forgot" Previous Copy to Library

I regularly Copy To/Move To a library located at "S:\Media\Calibre Library". After upgrading to 3.6, the available libraries in the Copy To/Move To pick list are different. If I manually choose the proper library, it still doesn't offer it up the next time. Is this a new bug? Is there somewhere I can edit the config files to offer the proper library location?

Thanks!

There haven't been any changes to the list of libraries that show up in copy to library. The libraries that show up are all the libraries calibre knows about, that is, all the libraries you can switch to from the quick switch menu you get when clicking the calibre button.

There was a change in how the Choose libray to copy to dialog works (earlier it was by apth only, now it gives youa list of know libraries as well). But that does not affect the list of libraries in the menu.

I may not be remembering correctly, but isn't there an issue with running Calibre portable? It only remembers the Library that's saved on the same portable doo-hicky that the executable is saved on? Since the OP mentions S:\Media, I'm wondering if it's Calibre portable.

I'm not running portable. I just have my media library (incl. Calibre Library) on a NAS that I mount as a virtual disk via iSCSI to S:\.

I resolved the problem by using Library Maintenance to delete pointers to old libraries and then switching back and forth amongst my libraries to refresh the "Pick List" in Move/Copy.

On the NAS, I created a space for a volume, mounted it via iSCSI Initiator and then formatted the space via Disk Management on the Windows Workstation. Windows sees this as a Local, Simple Basic Disk formatted as NTFS. I then mount this "virtual disk" via the one workstation. Thus, Windows has access to any of its standard capabilities (e.g., indexing, filelocking etc.). I haven't suffered any loss in the many years using this configuration. I do, however, mirror the RAID 5 NAS that contains the virtual disk to an identical off-site RAID 5 NAS on a weekly basis.

You just proved yourself wrong
You did lose data... The connection to some known Libraries

Kovid is not saying you CAN'T use a NAS.
He is say that ANY networked drive makes the Calibre, transnational way of Library management, unreliable under ALL conditions.

IMHO The performance hit to allow a tiny fraction of Calibre users to USE Calibre with a NAS is not warranted.
NAS are great for backups of your library.
