Email scam [Not Apple?]
I just got this email from iTunes. Pertinent information has been deleted by me:
iTunes TF998870Wxxxxxx- - [Note: altered by me.] Dear xxxxxotmail.com - [Email altered by me] This email confirms your purchase of the following subscription. Name of Subscription: Pandora Premium Plan Application: Music & Radio Content Provider: Pandora Media, Inc Invoice Date: 05.Aug.2017 Subscription Period: 12 / months Order ID: TF9988xxxx[Note: Altered by me, just in case] Price: 91.30$ The subscription period will automatically renew unless you turn it off no later than 24 hours before the end of the current period. To cancel auto-renewal or manage your subscriptions, click below and sign in. You can cancel a Subscription at any time: Get Refund ---------------- I haven't authorized anything, and I have no knowledge of what a Pandora Premium Plan is. The words "Get Refund" is a link. Is this an email scam? I checked my iCloud and I have no storage subscriptions for anything, just the free 5GB. In fact, I have no subscriptions for anything from Apple. Should I be checking somewhere else? --- This really looks legitimate, by the way. Any advice, please, would be helpful. |

It could be. Check your Apple subscriptions. It's in a different place from iCloud subscriptions. Apple allows buying of subscriptions like Pandora,magazines etc. through the app store. I think they may be listed under purchases in iTunes?

Hmm. Probably a scam then. Usually I get something like "Your receipt from Apple." in the subject.
Just to be safe I'd follow these steps on checking what subscriptions you have. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202039 And maybe your purchase history or credit card balance for an amount that much. If it is there then call Apple up and see what they say. |

Likely a scam. If I received that e-mail I would check the URL that the link goes to without actually clicking on it.

Phishing. They hope you have a Pandora sub and would give them your info by clicking their link and signing in. Too many people use the same login on multiple sites and once you had done that, your login would be "in the wild" and checked against many other sites. I hate them.

You can always right-click the "Get Refund" link, and paste it somewhere to see what it contains. Unless its to a real domain that makes sense, it is likely spam.
You can paste her for instance, and we can pick it apart. |
