How much does eReader output setting matter in .MOBI

I convert EPUB into MOBI for use on a 6-inch Kindle.

I used to convert for my Kindle 3 Graphite, which had a resolution of about 800x600.

However, I have been more recently converting for my Kindle Paperwhite 2, which is about 1024x768 in resolution.

The settings I have been using for output are mainly pegged toward the Kindle 3, rather than the Paperwhite 2.

What difference, if any, does it make if I optimize the final .MOBI for Kindle 3 instead of Paperwhite 2, when reading on my Paperwhite 2?

Does it just make the cover smaller (fitted for 800x600), or how much impact does it have on text formatting?

Profiles only control the final image size, they have no impact on text formatting

Thanks, Mr. Goyal, that was helpful!

I am going to continue using the smaller Kindle 3 setting to convert EPUBs, unless I really want to see that big cover.

Try setting the output profile to tablet. That will leave the images alone. You can test if the eBooks work with you K3. Also, don't convert to Mobi. Convert to KF8 (AZW3) because it's a better format and both Kindles support it. And if you have a need to edit the KF8, you can do so with the Calibre editor.

So forget Mobi exists if you are reading on a Kindle that supports KF8.
