Default Currency Question

I'm a New Zealand author, new to Kobo, and my book price is displayed in Kobo's store with my default NZ$ currency. Is it possible to display it in US$ currency instead? I want to promote my book with a value that people can easily recognise.

So, when I set my price, can it be done in US$ , but I get paid in my own currency?

I'm not an expert with this, but, I think the currency used depends on the store. If you look at the US store, it is in USD, the OZ store it AUD. I'm not sure how you set the price.

There was some mention of this by an author. I think the discussion happened in the Kobo discounts thread in the Deals forum. But, the question would probably be better in the Authors forum as they are more likely to have needed to deal with the currency in the various stores.

The currency used depends only on the buyer's location, not the seller's. Only buyers in New Zealand will see the price in New Zealand dollars. AFAIK buyers in these 36 countries will see the price in their local currency, and those in other countries will see it in US dollars.

I am not a publisher and so haven't seen how it works from the seller's point of view, but I am guessing that the seller has the option to set the price in one currency and have Kobo automatically convert it to the buyer's currency, or else to set a price for each country or region in the local currency.

From the buyer's view, If you want to see the price of a book in other countries you can just change the country code in the book's url.
