Android eInk reader app
Hi!
Just got an Onyx C67ML Carta2+, Android 4.2, if the box/wrapping is correct. Trying to figure out which reading app to use. (Mainly ePub, but have many also as mobi.) I was hoping to find one where reading position (and maybe even highlights/notes) would sync to iOS and maybe macOS/web. Google Play Books seems to work, but is not very stable/smooth. Which reading apps would you guys recommend? ![]() |

I would recommend: Koreader and ALReader
Koreader is especially great on eink devices. Am a huge fan. Alreader has an eink mode, that ensures various UI elements dont flicker around as much on eink screens. Both read multiple formats. |

Thanks! ![]() Koreader seems to be non-present in the Play Store (and also sync with iOS etc would be difficult, I guess?). ALReader looks nice, and very similar to OReader. (Maybe Onyx built their own based on it.) Trying to figure out how read position sync is supposed to work. FBReader looks popular ... hmm |

Koreader is an open source github project.
https://github.com/koreader/koreader/wiki/Download Well supported in the forums here. No, there is no IOS version to my knowledge. But its supported in kindle, kobo devices and android, among others. Try it out. you wont regret it. Also i thought Onyx readers come preinstalled with their eink version of FBReader. |

![]() Oreader looks very similar to ALreader, I assume that's the Onyx version you're referring to ... Haven't gotten any sync to work between devices, except in Google Play Books (which works, but seems heavier than the alternatives). |

My experience with KoReader on my Energy Sistem ProHD eink reader was that the refresh did not force a screen refresh (I also found KoReader to be quite unstable on the ProHD) . The same fail to refresh applies to the screen refresh settings in AlReader.

I decided to wake up my T68 after quite a while. And i had big troubles using the latest koreader versions on it.
Finally went back to the stable version and it worked..so so.. but..i prefer it on kindle/kobo.. but on android and esp on Boox's low config systems seems painful to use. |

Maybe I should try it on my Kobo. Tried both stable and nightly on my C67ML carta2+, hardly able to open an epub with the stable version (crashes after two page turns), nightly doesn't open at all ... FBreader seems like the nicest option so far, with books stored in Google drive. (Alreader/Oreader with night mode and predictable sync could rival it, and are smoother in some details/aspects.) Using FBreader and books from it's network library, it would/might be nice with a different launcher. Tips for a nice lightweight Launcher? (I'm quite new to Android in general.) |

Android eInk reader app
Searching a different thread, I came across this quote:
"Most of the gain in speed I feel I'm having is from the usage of Lightning Launcher (maybe Nova/ADW could have had almost the same effect with judicious tinkering) & some throttling/disabling of unneeded apps & services." I've tested Nova and ADW, guess I should check out Lightning Launcher ... ![]() |

The app I like the most is coolreader have been using it for years now since the Hanlin V3 days sadly the author of coolreader stopped updating the app a few years ago so hasn't got any updates or fixes over the years but I use it with calibre companion so just need coolreader to read and for that it is still good enough.
