Red face Questions/devices/cloud

I have spent many hours and months on this and still have a difficult time as a non-talented, non-technical newbie. I am hoping someone can figure out if this is possible to do.

I loaded books to Calibre about 15k maybe... or about 80 gigs worth of books, not all mine I share mum; however, I am the only one that has a computer or works with a computer. I have gotten my 80 something bedridden mum to read books on a tablet so I have been trying to find all her printed books in a mobile format. She loves reading this way as she can make the print HUGE.

I have and share also:

Kindle Fire 6
Kindle Fire 7 (2015)
Paperwhite about 3 years old
Kindle Voyager
3 Android devices

What I am trying to do is to put in a cloud so that any of those devices can download books. I am not sure how to do this as well.

What I want to do is to make sure on all the devices it shows as:

{series}{series_index:0>2s| [|] }{title}
Example: Codex Alera [02] Academ's Fury

and of course sorted by author as well

Is this possible?

If it is possible what are some ways it can be achieved?

Also, keep in mind that I have spent a while reading the manual etc and learning from trial and error and do not have any special talents like the people on these boards do. Simple terms

I do "send to kindle" from my pc but it doesn't show the series and number on the kindle and or android as well. I have all my books on pc unless there are books that came directly from amazon.

Thank you so much for any information that you can give me.

Other questions:
I have Kindle unlimited and I see that there are books with audio format built right in. Is there a way to copy the whole thing? So many questions.

How about text to reading?

I can't really help here, but one question is where will you be accessing the books from? If it is on a local network, you can run the calibre server. If it is from anywhere around the world, the solution is probably different.

Are you talking about the file name or the title in the metadata?

If it is the file name, then you will be using either send-to-device or save-to-disk to get the book where you want to read it. Both of these have a save template. You can set this to use the appropriate metadata elements as part of the file name.

If it is in the metadata, then you can use a metadata plugboard to set the title. These can be set differently for each device, or you can use a common one.

The template used for both of the above is roughly the same. The plugboad etc template thread has plenty of examples including one that is exactly what you want. This is:

Code:
{series:|| }{series_index:0>2s|[|] - }{title}

I have them all on my pc and for the most part, will be accessing from home.

I would like to have it appear on the device that way. I want to be able to access from the device the library without sitting at the computer. Is that possible?

My books are loaded to calibre and since reading an answer to Tweetygirl found out how to make a column from a column to have this information in a separate column. However, it does not show up that way on the pc part of the calibre library. So if I use "kindle send to library feature on the kindle pc app and have a copy sent to the kindle cloud it won't show the series series# title on the device.

So... if I decide to sync with a cloud how would I make sure that the {series:|| }{series_index:0>2s|[|] - }{title} works? I would like to upload the whole library so I could just download from my device.

It depends on how you do the sync. If you sync the calibre library, then no. In that case, the file names and metadata is what calibre is using.

If you use save-to-disk, then yes. Or connect to the cloud service as device, and use send-to-device.

Ok.. Another question and thank you for answering all of these.

I have amazon ~ where you can upload your docs/books ~ is there a way to sync calibre to that. At the moment I am using "send to kindle" app from the pc library and it uploads to the "archive" of kindle and it is a slow process only allowing 25 at a time and you have to change the author with each author change.
