Has Kobo changed downloading with ADE?

For the first time in almost six years of buying ebooks from Kobo, I am having a problem downloading with ADE.

I can still download the books I purchased as recently as three days ago, but ADE gives an E_LIC_LICENSE_SIGN_ERROR when I try to download the ones I purchased yesterday.

I have tried ADE 1.7.2 and 2.0.1, both give the same error.

I have tried de-authorising and re-authorising ADE as suggested by Kobo, but still get the same error.

Anyone else having problems downloading recent Kobo purchases with ADE?

I just tried with a book bought a couple of weeks ago; I received the same error. Books with DRM from other sources (a library loan) work as expected, so I assume it must be a problem on Kobo's end. I use ADE's latest update (4.5.7) on Windows 10.

I found this on the error in question.

E_LIC_LICENSE_SIGN_ERROR - This means that our server is unavailable to speak to the Adobe server to validate the Adobe ID. This should be a temporary issue so please leave it a few minutes & try again BUT if you continue to see this error please contact us at orders@foyles.co.uk and we will investigate further.

i had same issue a couple of weeks ago with a library book. Tried to download next day and it worked so i agreee it must be a server error

I just got this with a recently purchased book from Kobo too with ADE 2, I'll be contacting Kobo to see what they say.

Having exactly the same issue. The fact that older books are working while the three I just bought from Kobo are not makes me worried; this doesn't sound like a license communication problem at Kobo's end, but more like some DRM format change between the older and the newer books.

Nothing more encouraging to the honest ebook customer than evolving random DRM torture ...

Yeah that is my worry too. Kobo's Fulfillment Server Status says everything is online, but I still can't download recent purchases.

Edit: ADE reports a bit more in its logs, I don't know if that gives any clues:

In my case, the only books working right now were bought 4+ years ago, if not more; anything more recent and I get the error mentioned above. It makes me think more of a server problem, to be honest.
My ADE is also updated to the current software version (4.5.8) and I still get that error. If it were a DRM format change I would expect problems with DRM removal software, not with ADE.

i bought 2 two days ago and had no problems downloading them - maybe uninstall ade and reinstall vs 2.0.1

Are you sure?. I use ADE 4.5.8 without any problem.

Anyway, I keep a copy of ADE 2.0.1, just in case.

I am suggesting they reinstall ade 2.0.1 so why is this a bad idea!

I have been having this issue with two books I just bought and was just about to contact Kobo customer service. Now I won't have to.
