the print book contain lines for readers to write on. Do these come out in epub? can they be made “live” for the iPad allowing users to write?

There may be apps that can be used that way...just not any that I've tried. |

PDF can have live fields for typing into. But ePub, no.

Try Marginnote. It does epub and pdf. Might not be quite what you want but its the closest that I can think of.

Another possibilty: use a handwriting keyboard, e.g. https://itunes.apple.com/de/app/mysc...931394264?mt=8. Depending on the stylus you use, it provides not too shabby results.
Workflow: Install “keyboard”, use note feature in your reading app, [select keyboard as input method,] write with a stylus instead of typing... |

The only way I can think of is by taking a screenshot for each and every page by pressing the on off and home screen at the same time. You can then write on the line with an image editor of your choice.
Ps: this is why it makes no sense for a publisher to sell a workbook with lines to write on in ebook format. What good does it do if you can't write on it? |
