Question Exclude Date Added

Is there an option/setting to exclude the date when adding a batch of eBooks to a library, other than by post- import processing?

You could always hide the Date column if you find it annoying.

OK! I didn't realize what a jumbled mixture of forums this place is. When I searched in what appeared to the calibre forum it was a search of the entire mobileread.com.

No it does not annoy me and I already know how to hide/show columns. You are guessing at my reason for asking the question. I use calibre libraries metadata.db files outside of calibre and it would be convenient not to do any post- import processing before using the files.
In the absence of a definitive answer to my question I will assume it to be a simple NO.

You could use the Action Chains plugin to set the date to an arbitrary fixed value, for example Undefined, when a book is imported.

Thanks. I haven't tried the plugin yet, but the summary indicates that it should do what I want.
