Open with does not like bash scripts
When I try to choose a bash script for open with for pdfs this is what I get.
I am also hoping that this would be fixed for the last 2x version because I personally cant use v3 due to not running in remote session, also there might be others who are still using the 2x versions. thanks calibre 2.85.1 embedded-python: True is64bit: True Linux-4.3.0-1-amd64-x86_64-with-debian-9.0 Linux ('64bit', 'ELF') ('Linux', '4.3.0-1-amd64', '#1 SMP Debian 4.3.5-1 (2016-02-06)') Python 2.7.9 Linux: ('debian', '9.0', '') Successfully initialized third party plugins: Find Duplicates (1, 6, 2) && Barnes & Noble (1, 2, 13) && Import List (1, 1, 5) && Read MP3 AudioBook metadata (1, 0, 79) && Resize Cover (1, 0, 2) && Kindle Collections (1, 7, 16) && EpubMerge (2, 1, 0) && Generate Cover (1, 5, 21) && Search The Internet (1, 7, 6) && KePub Output (2, 7, 1) && Quality Check (1, 9, 11) && Modify ePub (1, 3, 13) && Wiki Reader (2, 1, 0) && EpubSplit (2, 2, 0) && Reading List (1, 6, 6) && Copy Cover To Device (2, 0, 0) && Kobo Utilities (2, 4, 1) && Save To Format (0, 0, 6) Traceback (most recent call last): File "site-packages/calibre/gui2/dialogs/choose_format.py", line 76, in choose_open_with File "site-packages/calibre/gui2/open_with.py", line 315, in choose_program File "site-packages/calibre/gui2/open_with.py", line 221, in finalize_entry KeyError: u'MimeType' Last edited by loviedovie; 07-02-2017 at 02:29 PM. |

There are going to be no more releases in the 2.x series.
You can work around this by simply updating to calibre 3.3 creating your open with association and then downgrading again. https://github.com/kovidgoyal/calibr...17b048f7aeea0a |

Because you literally have no idea what you are talking about, and the problem with remote sessions on Linux is due to a specific and unidentified bug in the interaction between the version of Qt shipped with calibre and the Linux remote session implementation which is causing this to spew error messages and fail to work on some peoples' machines -- like the OP. As the OP posted about, a mere two days ago in this exact subforum. So that's BS, and please stop spewing BS when you have no idea what you are talking about, and have no reason to think you know what you are talking about due to not actually using the operating system in question. Thanks. If you're somehow not sure the OP knows what they are talking about, and you want to ask them why they think they cannot use calibre remotely when there are many decent vnc applications out there, you go right ahead and do that. But when you start out from the assumption that you have already proven them wrong, accuse them of BS'ing, and then you turn out to be the one in the wrong, then your well-known habit of immediately jumping to conclusions has abruptly become quite insulting. |

That might be more convenient than switching between the 3.x and 2.x versions whenever you need to circumvent this bug. ![]() |

Open with crashes Calibre when changing libraries so I had to stop using it. But I will try the other plugin, thanks for the recommendation.

Except that I do not use Teamviewer due to it being closed source. I use X2go which is open source. X2go is also much faster than any VNC, and it integrates much better also it runs its own session meaning that I can run different desktop sessions with it.

Do you have a link to that bug posted somewhere? I would like to keep an eye on it.

Might be worth a post in the Open With optional plugin thread, even though its originator (Kiwidude) is no longer active davidfor has kept it up to date etc. BR |

I am trying to pass the book pdf to a script that processes it with k2pdfopt, for mobile viewing optimization purposes. There is no gui version on Linux, so it is tricky to pass it to a binary.
