What's happened to the 'rating' selection?
Generally I LOVE the improvements v3 has brought - apart from one VERY annoying "improvement" to selecting ratings (unless there's an option I've not noticed).
With v2 variants, to change a book's rating all you had to do was click on the 'up' symbol on the right of the box - - ONE movement. Now with v3, you have to: 1. click on the box to expose the selector 2. scroll down to the rating you want then 3. click on that rating. - - - and I make that THREE movements. In railway terms this change is referred to as a major/minor "negative improvement" Is there any way of getting the old behaviour back without reverting to v2? It's so annoying when you're changing several ratings (but can't use the batch option) and, though minor in some ways, is ruining my enjoyment of v3. I'm reluctant to revert (I always keep old versions just in case . . . . !) but having to do the three actions every time is driving me mad!!! Or have I missed something . . . . ?? Or am I the only one to be slowed down by the change?? |

FWIW - I edit it in the book list - F2 to edit the cell, up/down arrow to change, enter to 'save'.

This has nothing to do with v3, IIRC it was changed in 2.x
And just use the mouse wheel or the arrow keys or press the number directly. There is no need to click anything to change the rating. |

Except that it's not (quite)!!!
Problem now comes when I have my android device connected. Now if I try to change the rating, hover (itself) and scroll seem to be disabled: the only way I can change a rating is to click on the 'down' arrow then bring up the menu of the five star ratings then click on the chosen one. Is this an unexpected glitch or is there no alternative in the programming?? And, whilst on that, is there a quick way to delete a book from the reader while the metadata panel is showing? I seem to be doing an awful lot of going in and out (of metadata) changing library lists when I've finished a book . . . . |

I dont see what difference having a device connected should make, and it works the same for me regardless. Steps I tried:
1) Connect a device 2) Wait for the device to de detected and show up in calibre 3) Click ona book 4) CLick on the rating field 5) Use the mouse wheel to change the rating. |

EDIT: now that's really weird. I tried another Android device (v5 as opposed to v4.4) and it worked just as you said. Well, it seems it's my problem but as to why I cannot hazard a guess........ Thanks anyway ![]() DOUBLE-EDIT. Inspired guess this one, but might just help others. Turns out the problem comes if you don't get out of MoonReader completely (just shut it down, not disable it!!). Close Moon and all behaves just as it was intended to . . . . Last edited by rbruce1314; 07-02-2017 at 02:38 AM. Reason: More tests |
