Kobo Glo HD Smoking

Recently my Glo HD has not been charging. The screen is stuck on "please charge your ereader." When charging, however, nothing seemed to happen. The computer did not recognize it when plugged in, either.
I have tried all the resets, as well as different cables, all with no results. Today I decided to open it up and see if there was any visible issues. I immediately noticed that the ereader starts smoking profusely when plugged in. Has anyone else encountered something similar?
I did try to contact Kobo, but they were useless. They told me to reset with the button, even after I had explained that I had already tried this. They then told me that it was out of warranty and was no longer their concern. They did not seem concerned at all that it is smoking.

The smoke is coming out of the area circled in the picture.

Is the button light blink or screen refresh when you try to turn it on?
clearly there is a problem with the electric board that causing it to overheat and smoking, I don't think there anything you can do to fix it.

You could try eBay and see if someone has a Glo HD for sale that has a broken screen and swap the motherboards & microSD cards.

It's too dangerous, in my opinion.

Trash it: There may be hidden smoke damage and low fire damage on all the parts to take any further chances with your life, your house and any loved ones.

Disconnecting the battery will prevent any fire, no power source no smoking or fire, it can still be soled for parts.

The screen is the best part to be sold. I would not sell the battery as there's no idea if it's still good.

Do not try to use it. I would just get rid of it.

Now since there is really nothing to do to save it and my brain is not fully functional today, I will tell you my first thought when I read the thread title.
"Get it a nicotine patch, it doesn't need to be smoking. "

Batteries Can catch on Fire Without being connected! Or even turned on.
