Tag Import prevention -Is there a way>
I am getting a lot of irrelevant tags on imports and it is taking me hours to delete/change them.Is there a way to prevent the importation of tags when importing books? Thanks.

You would then use the Copy to library (delete after copy) feature to copy the books to the Tagret library. By default that feature is in the book list context menu. Some users, me included, adopt this approach to get the correct values for all the metadata columns they regard as important before copying to the Target library. I also use the Find Duplicates plugin's Find library duplicates feature to search for duplicates between the Intake and Target library before I do the copy. BR |

What I did was create a custom Yes/No field in each library, then set up a virtual library to list all books where the value of that column is not Yes. When I add a book, that column defaults to blank, so it automatically shows up in my To Fix virtual library. Once I clean up the metadata, I mark that column as Yes to remove it from To Fix. |

BetterRed's approach, having a separate library to act as Purgatory, works well and is great when dealing with large batches of new books needing work. I only "batch" add 1-3 books on any one weekend and take a "lighter weight" approach.
I've set calibre, in Prefs>Add Books, to add an additional tage "new addition" when adding books. This allows be to easily fine new additions even after I've done something that causes calibre to refresh the library list (e.g. quit and restart later, ...). I remove the "new addition" tag when I've finished massaging the new book. |
