Problem with E-book viewer
I'm not sure where this needs to go so if this is wrong move it or let me know and I'll re-post.
OK so my issue is that calibre does not want to save my location when reading. I use the default viewer that is part of calibre and my files are all epubs. I didn't used to have this problem, but I don't know when it started. It has been some months though from when I first noticed. At first it didn't bother me that much but now it does. That's why it has taken so long for me to ask about it. So i open a book, I read for a bit, then I'm done for the time being. Sometimes I close the viewer window other times I may leave it open until I shutdown the computer. The main calibre window is open the entire time. I have checked settings in the viewer and the save location option is selected. I have even tried to set bookmarks. I will set bookmark and then look and it lists "bookmark 1" or whatever the name it was given wile the book is still open. I have also right click and done reload book. But when I come back at some later time and open the book it will reopen at the beginning, and there is no bookmark. Some books I have had from before the problem started still have bookmarks from before and will open to the last location from before the problems started. But they will not save any new information. I'm probably forgetting something here buy ask and I'll try my best to answer. --r |

Do you have both the settings:
"Remember current page when quitting" and "Keep a copy of bookmarks inside ebook file" enabled? |

Then I dont see how what you're describing is possible, unless you have permissions problem both in the calibre config directory and on your epub files that prevents the viewer from writing data to them.
You can run the viewer in debug mode in a command prompt using calibre-debug -w file.epub that might give you some useful information on what the problem is |
