Overdrive
Hi
I am using the Aura One and was going to try out the Overdrive feature. According to the manual, it should be located under ... > Settings > Overdrive However, I have nothing called Overdrive in my Settings menu. What up? Thanks |

Are you in one of the countries where OverDrive works on the A1? If yes, do you know what affiliate your device is using?

No, sorry, the built in OD support doesn't work for Sweden.
From Kobo's page on the Aura One... Quote:
If you're trying to use a library from one of those countries it's possible (not sure) that changing the affiliate might help. Last edited by AnemicOak; 04-02-2017 at 09:17 PM. |

Not really relevant to the original question but just a bit of information relating to Overdrive.
I noticed the other day that my local library (Surrey UK) is dropping Overdrive. Quote:

They're still around, but they've lost some ground in the UK. Bibliotheca have been making a huge push into the UK market ever since they bought 3M's Cloud Library in 2015. They offer a much more flexible pricing model than Overdrive does, which many local authorities find attractive in the current climate of austerity. Quite a few have switched as their contracts with Overdrive come to an end. I have library cards from five local authorities in my bit of England, and four have switched to Bibliotheca in the past two years.

If you look at the Swedish resellers, they have translated the info about Kobo, including how Overdrive can work with libraries. There is no mentioning that there is a geographic restriction. So, a swede reading the description and buying a Kobo locally would probably think they could use Overdrive for library use. (And libraries are very popular in Sweden for ebooks, thus this could be one of the reason they bought the e-reader.) (Hmm, I was actually planning to mention this to them, guess I forgot...) Edit. Just checked and the largest reseller has actually removed the mentioning of Overdrive. Must have been done recently. I sent an email to another large reseller that still had the info. So apart from not being able to use the Overdrive feature on your Aura One, does this make any difference to borrowing library books, or is it pretty much the same as it was with sideloading via Overdrive?

Surrey are still in the throes of the change over so I will have to wait and see how it all works out. |

Sideloading works just the same if you're sideloading via Adobe Digital Editions. I don't use Overdrive's own desktop program nor do I use Bibliotheca's, but both support sideloading to Kobo readers.
