This update includes general performance improvements and the following new features:

Improvements to tables that contain images: Images inside tables are now more proportionate to the table dimensions.

Auto-shelving enhancements for Goodreads users: If you've linked your Kindle with Goodreads, you'll have the option to add your books to your Goodreads shelf from the About this Book and Before You Go sections of each book.

I see that this one is for the Voyage. Maybe that is why mine became unresponsive today when I put it on line. I have the folder that will (hopefully) block updates. Although, I have had issues with the Voyage in the last week or so, refusing to download, and not even showing new items under "ALL".

Seems to be available for Oasis and Paperwhites as well not just Voyage.

I though 5.8.8 was for the Paperwhite 7th Gen but when I load it onto my Kindle I get an error message.

The download is very slow. I finally used downloader to download in multi-thread, took from about 2 hrs to 10 minutes.

I'd blame your ISP, or the link between that and Amazon, or one messed-up Amazon cluster perhaps. It came down for me in a little under a minute.
