OpenVPN on Iliad

Good morning,

I am a student in a school computer and I have to carry out a project on the Iliad. I must secure transfers between the Iliad and a web server. Is it possible to install on the iliad openvpn? I know that openssl is already implemented.

I've compiled it with the iLiad's verson of openssl. It should work, but I haven't tested it. You probably don't need the man directory either, but I included it in the tarball.

Hey,

I put openvpn on Iliad.
When I try to start a tunnel there is an error with the tun interface.
Actually the tun/tap driver is not installed.

If i try to compil this driver with vmware image could I put it on Iliad ?

In fact the driver (Tun/tap) is even in kernel module but not enable so i must recompile the kernel 2.4.19. When i try to compile the kernel i got an error with the version of gcc which is 3.4.4. Apparently i must make it with version 2.95.3
but it doesn't work too.

Someone got an idea or a zImage even compiled with driver TUN/TAP enable (IP Tunneling and GRE) ??

To be honest, I've never compiled a driver for an embedded OS. I won't be much help here...

Hi karioka,

In the tarball you may find tun, ip_gre and ipip kernel modules (.o). Insmod them (e.g. "insmod ipip.o") and verify they get actually loaded ("lsmod").

Let us know your progresses, I might be interested to setup a vpn as well.

Is the requirement to have a VPN, or just to secure the transfer? I know people have gotten SSH working on the iLiad already. Can't you just do a SSH connection between the iLiad and your server and setup a tunnel that way? Does tunneling via SSH still require the Tun/Tap kernel module, or is it all done at the application level?

Hey,

i'm trying ton configure the network for openvpn.
I got an application which foolow this steps :

open connecion with

connectionMgr --background --stay-connected --use-last-connection

make a curl

upload threw a web server

close the connection with connectionMgr

Do you know a command which i could use to lauunch openvpn with the connectionMgr??

i saw than there was --execute but I didn't found the well syntax.
