Kindle 5 will not mount

When I plug the Kindle into my Mac using the cable it came with it will not mount / connect.

Environment: macOS Sierra (10.12.3 (16D32))

Running lsusb yields the following (truncated):

```
Bus 020 Device 006: ID 1949:0004 Lab126 Internal Storage
```

dmesg yields the following:

```
USB device 1949000414400000 - termination caused by a wake from hibernation or standby!
...
USBMSC Identifier (non-unique): 0x1949 0x4 0x310
```

I have tried with other USB micro cables. One of which I was fairly certain was a USB micro data (not just charging) cable.

I'm at a loss.

First six character of your Kindles serial number please.

Did it ever mount?

Did you receive it new or used?

If you have had it since it was new, and also the cable, that is a long time, use a known good cable.

Is it jailbroken?
What packages have you added to it?

Is the USB port on you are trying to use USB-3?
Try again with a known good cable and a USB-2 port.
