WH Smith to sell Cybook Gen3 in Paris
Solym from Actualitté sent us word that WH Smith France, the French subsidiary of the British bookseller, is going to sell the Cybook Gen3 e-reader. So if you happen to stroll by the famous "rue de Rivoli" alongside the Tuileries gardens in Paris, don't forget to step in the store and to check out the juicy Gen3 device. hey, thats great news !!! liseuses need a lot more visibility over here (i'm amazed how few french people know about them, when Bookeen and Mobipocket and others are in paris...), so the more shops that carry them, the better. perhaps i'll take a stroll over myself to see how they are displayed. i'll try to take a photo if i do. |

So the french subsidiary will, but what about the english parent company? So far, here in the UK, Borders is doing the Iliad book edition and Waterstones the Sony PRS-505... |

			I'd guess it'll be the same as the on-line price - €350.

The UK price is £269, Geoff, which is actually somewhat cheaper than the Euro price given the current exchange rate. At the current rate, €350 = €282. We're saving about £13 buying in £ rather than €.

On a similar note, I emailed the WHSmith ebookstore the other day to say that it was great to see them in the market but unfortunate that they're current offering is a bit limited (I didn't mention 'uncompetitively priced', I'll save that for a follow-up) and suggested a wishlist function. Received the following: "Thank you for your feedback and suggestions on the WHSmith eBookshop. We are planning to implement some updates to the web site in the near future. While the Wish List feature may not be added at that point, we will certainly keep it in mind for further enhancements. Thank you again, and please let us know if there is any way we can be of assistance. Thank you. Sincerely,The WHSmith eBook Support Team" Nice, polite, prompt response and always good to have another resource, although I really do feel they need to 'up their game' a lot to be a serious contender where ebooks are concerned. |

I emailed a few days ago the Brentano's bookstore (http://www.brentanos.fr ) about the Cybook, they replied to me this morning that they still have a few standard Cybook Gen3 in stock at 350€. I will certainly visit them to have a look at the device, even if I ordered instead a PRS-505 |

In spring, when iLiad & Cybook hit the shops here (in Milan and Rome, I think), they sold-out in a couple of weeks... I don't know how many items there where, not too many I suppose, but we can see it as a good omen for our french cousins... |

Do you have a link to that, Bob? It certainly sounds like a error, but it would be nice if it were not.
