Is there any way to replace the screen of a KA1? I don't think it's covered by the warranty.

My suggestions: Harvest for parts or buy a new reader.

too late for you now , but if you'd bought from John Lewis and paid the extra £10 for 2 years accidental damage cover - that covers all screen damage . I explicitly checked that with them. So I If i do get one, I shall be paying the extra £10
. if you are not in the UK look for other retailers with similar add-ons for next time
