Urgent: Fintie or Omoton for Voyage?
Seems these two are the most popular third party options
Which do you recommend? This is a bit of an emergency decision as I wont be in the country for long and must decide within 2 days, but Im not sure which to pick Please forgive me if this has been asked but Ive scoured previous threads and still am not sure what to pick Thanks |

I bought the Fintie SmartShell for my Voyage last fall, and I like it so far. It's a bit flimsier than the similarly styled Amazon leather cover that I have for my Paperwhite, but it does the job at a decent price. I got Navy Blue, but there are lots of colors and patterns to pick from, which is nice.

I also recommend Fintie , I have the Vintage book style cover. Ordered from ebay and very pleased with it. It gives great protection and I can add a stylus by inserting it into the binding of the cover, no scratches on the device nor damage on the binding. This is a plus for me because I use a stylus often. Had this cover for over 6ms. still in perfect condition.

Ordered the Omoton, cancelled it and then ordered the Fintie.
Only worry is the exposed top and bottom, but it seems like it will be fine otherwise. Thanks guys and girls! |

surely an original origami case is very sellable & worth more, used, than both those 3rd part options combined ?
put it on ebay or give it to charity for re-sale- rather than trash a high priced working case just because you dont like it |

I actually have thrown a couple of cases into the trash, and I'm not talking figure of speech.
If my origami case were here (and not boxed up in storage with other, older ebook readers), I would also probably toss it in the trash (making three cases thrown into the trash), since reading is not a luxury here in Peru, and I don't know anyone who needs it or would even want the damn thing. Last year, I saw someone here with a Kindle but I decided not to start a conversation - because he was reading, and where I come from (USA), it's considered rude to interrupt someone while they're engaged in a conversation or activity. (I'm from the South.) Is an Origmai case 'sellable'? Probably to David Gerrold.* * = spot the reference. Last edited by Dr. Drib; 02-16-2017 at 05:31 AM. |

the lowest used price for a Kindle origami case at amazon Uk is £31.99. maybe it's different where you live or maybe you burn £10 notes for fun... who knows
my point was that it's not worthless. A charity shop ( maybe you call them goodwill) would easily get £ 10 for a good cause for your "trash" https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb...+origami+cover |

Goodwill (in the USA) is for charity; we don't sell things to Goodwill (in the USA). Perhaps someone could BUY some kind of case for $12.51 [£ 10] or even less. |

the way it works in UK is you give your unwanted stuff to charity shops e.g. those run by oxfam. either via door to door collection or you take your stuff to an outlet. they then sell the goods, like a regular shop would, but cheaply, and the proceeds go into the charity's funds. Most uk charity shops will not accept electrics/ electronics for sale ( scared of being sued if anyone gets electrocuted I guess) but they would happily take e-reader covers

Origami cover looked ridiculous, I went with Fintie. The front tends to warp a bit, and the left side buttons are harder to activate as the folded back cover adds too much squishy-ness, but it is functional enough.
What I don't understand is why nobody has designed a 'backless' cover, i.e. one that just clips around the perimeter, leaving the back exposed. To reduce weight and make it thinner. I may get an extra cover and take a utility knife to it... |

given the voyage design, there is maybe not enough surface area for a backless case to grip without blocking the page turn buttons.
i used a thin solid push-kindle-in-to-grip shell case that added little to the overall weight and folded back unobtrusively in portrait mode here is a cheap silicon option. at this price you can afford to carve up a few in search of backless ![]() https://www.amazon.co.uk/Kindle-Voya...oyage+silicone |
