Sorting documents
Hi
I have a PW3 and I use it exclusively for reading EPUB and some six-inches PDF (with Koreader too). To start Koreader, I need only to press on "KUAL" . KUAL is in fact "KUAL-KDK-2.0.azw2" which is placed in the Documents folder. However, when I have many PDF with a capital letter in the A to J range, the place of KUAL recedes because it must follow the alphabetic order. It may even leave the first page and it begins to be tedious to look for it... I would like to see KUAL appear as the first item of the list. I tried to rename it to AAKUAL to no avail. Does someone has a tip to obtain this result? |

You can't just rename the file, to rename KUAL you would have to recompilie it with different name from its source code.
Since I've just now noticed that Amazon removed "Active" filter option (which was somewhat quicker way to display just KUAL as the only active content type "book") from "All Items, Books, Docs,Collection" dropdown menu (when did that happen??) the only thing left that you can do is manual search for KUAL then open it. Or you could start using KPVBooklet to be able to open PDFs and EPUBs in KOreader by click in book cover displayed on Kindle's Cover View, instead of opening KOreader via KUAL and then fopening the book you want to read. @shamanNS
Thanks for your very informative reply. I will bump my question to the KUAL developer thread, maybe they will be willing to provide such a recompiled binary or teach me the way to do it. |

Hi
To report success. ![]() I did not use Collections. So, using the Kindle PW3, I created a Collection and named it Divers (Miscellaneous in French). I refused the offer to synchronize and the Kindle told me I had three user manuals under this name that I could have selected. I did not add KUAL to this Collection. When the Kindle resumed, I could see on top of the list Divers (tagged as COLLECTION). Right under it, in number two place, KUAL tagged as DEV (see screenshot below). And under it all the PDF, sorted by date, the most recent on top (and not by alphabetical order.) This is surprising but I find it convenient, more than the previous situation. As I did not find how to recompile KUAL, I will make do with this solution since the most important item for me is KUAL and since I read the PDF only with Koreader. Thanks for this workaround. ![]() Last edited by roger64; 02-15-2017 at 09:13 AM. |

I have it installed now. It works well and thus I do not use anymore KUAL for launching documents. KPVBooklet is very handy and I will see after some weeks of use if I keep it. Thanks also for this tip. I uninstalled t because of some instability. do not know if I am responsible for it or not. Back to usual KUAL. Last edited by roger64; 02-15-2017 at 08:18 PM. |

Well... from you screenshot the only thing you've done is changed the sorting from "Title" to "Collection" . Collection view also sorts books by recent opening, with difference from "Recent" option being that Collection view always has collections first followed by book that aren't part of any collection. I use it to de-clutter my Cover View (to have all read books grouped as one item, so there is less pages of books to page through).
So when you transfer next batch of books to you Kindle those new books will be listed before KUAL "book" and you will have to again find and open KUAL. Yes, it better situation then having books sorted by Title and but it's still not ideal. Maybe consider adding KUAL to its own collection named "AAAA" (and continue using "collections" view/sort as on that screenshot)? So that KUAL is always inside the very first thumbnail in Cover View. |

Sorry for being late to reply.
Yes, I am very new to Kindle software -even though my Kindle is 18 months old. Thanks for your explanations, I will make good use of them. ![]() |
