epub to mobi list conversion loses padding and indents

Hi - I currently have an epub file that converts great to mobi with one exception, list indents and padding-left are not being converted.

In the epub file I have developed indents and padding-left to align lists to be indented to my own specific settings. However, when it converts to mobi the indents and padding for the lists seem to be pre-determined no matter what settings I make in the epub file. I know the settings work as I can see as I change the indents and padding so the list responds to these changes in the epub file.

Out of interest I converted the mobi back to an epub to try and see what was happening and noticed both the block and list features were converted into 'calibre settings in the stylesheet. The particular calibre setting for the list had no padding-left setting and the text-indent was 0.

Again adjusting these settings on the converted mobi file to get the desired indent and running the conversion from epub to mobi once again removed my list settings.

Any advise would be most welcome on figuring out how to set my list indents and padding.

MOBI supports only very limited e-book formatting. I suggest that you convert to a more capable format, such as KF8 (AZW3).

Yes, conversion to AZW3 was perfect however as far as I can tell publishing books on Amazon KPD requires mobi format. I've tried loading AZW3 onto KDP and it is not accepted.

You really ought to use the Amazon supplied program, which will produce a combined Mobi/AZW3/Source file for upload.

You can, I think, get calibre to output a combined Mobi/AZW3, but Amazon sometimes rejects them.
