Manage Your Content and Devices now shows the books on each device

Your Devices, select device, Device Actions, View device content.

personal documents can be shown if you select docs rather than books.

Good find.

I tried it, but I think that if you select docs it shows all of the docs in your account, not just those on the device.

I tried it for Books on my Fire just to see what the list was composed of. It looks like it lists ALL the books you ever sent to that device, no matter whether you've deleted them from the device or not, as long as they are still in your library.

That is not what I am seeing. I checked several of my devices and it showed the correct contents. I also deleted a book from one device and synced it. Then I kept refreshing the web page and it updated to show that the book was removed about a minute later.

Perhaps it doesn't work properly with all devices or firmware versions. And it certainly cannot work unless you sync your devices via wi-fi.

One more thing. When you select a device to show content, the web page switches to the "Your Content" tab with "Show: Device Content" selected. If you change the "Show" setting you will be viewing the contents of your library instead of that single device.

It works correctly on my newer devices like Oasis, Voyage, fire6. But on my older stuff like K1, keyboard and old basic, it shows like 2 or 3 books. I have lots more than 2 or 3 on there.

. I wonder if it has to do with the cloud stuff that came about with the paperwhite. Older devices don't use that new cloud collection system.

As long as it works on the new devices I use now, I am good. Its kind of neat. I went through the Oasis and Voyage and because of the ease of seeing the titles, I moved a couple of books up on the tbr pile. They kind of got lost in the shuffle I guess. I didn't even remember I owned them.

Hmm, I'll try again when I get home. It would be nice if it synced correctly, because then I could be sure which comics I had on my device still to read without having to physically have it in hand (same with documents that I go through on my Paperwhite). I do use the cloud and sync across devices, but maybe I need to physically hit the sync button on each device before checking it online? Many things for me to test!

This is an interesting improvement, but doesn't solve the 'simultaneous device limit' problem. There needs to be a way to fix that without physical access to the device.

And at lease one of my devices does not have an accurate accounting for what is actually on it.

Drat -- I was hoping to be able to remove books from a device this way. I don't see how to do that.

Not delete the book from my cloud, just remove it from my device, because I've got too many others to read. The freebies that I collected more than a year ago can be removed from the device for a while. I'm reading bought books, and collections, mostly -- because I already know I like them. I didn't want to delete them one-by-one on the device itself.

Deleting would be wonderful. I hope they add that option soon. But even without it, I am thrilled to have a list I can easily see on my computer screen, of the contents on my PW.

Yes, given that it shows the date I acquired each book. That's helpful. I can probably use that, while working on the kindle itself, in deciding what to remove from the device.
