[Linux] "Click to open" links don't work

I'm using Calibre 2.78 on OpenSuse LEAP 42.2. I had a previous install that was part of the distro (version 2.75.1); I removed that version and re-installed from the download link.

None of my "Click to open" links work (this was true before the upgrade also). They all fail with an error like:

------------------
Failed to open URI "file:///home/drawson/Calibre%20Library/Edward%20Abbey/Desert%20Solitaire%20(1163)".

Error when getting information for file '/home/drawson/Calibre%20Library/Edward%20Abbey/Desert%20Solitaire%20(1163)': No such file or directory.
-------------------

The directory in question does actually exist, permissions are normal. Note that the above URI's point to the directory, NOT the EPUB for the book :-((

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Dan

xdg-open on your system is broken, it is failing to handle percent-encoded URLs.

Thanks - a bit of searching on the OpenSuse site turned up this:

https://forums.opensuse.org/showthre...light=xdg-open

so it's a bug in the xdg-open script when used with XFCE. In particular, it's in libexo 0.10.6 (part of XFCE) and earlier, supposedly fixed in 0.10.7. But OpenSuse has not yet updated to the latest versions.

I was able to fix it by modifying xdg-open to set the desktop environment to Gnome (even though I'm running XFCE . . . .) - then it opens the %-encoded URL's correctly. that fix was from another thread here:

http://unix.stackexchange.com/questi.../170820#170820

Maybe someone else will find this useful :-))
