Series have disappeared in v2.78 64 bit

Hi. I restored my library on a new Acer Aspire F15 running Windows 10 and then updated Calibre to v2.78. Everything had been going along swimmingly. I love being able to mark books in series and use that ability all the time in the bulk Editing Metadata where they are numbered automatically (just love that!).

However, after the upgrade, all the series in my 7,493 book library have disappeared. Fortunately, I got into a very early habit of setting up series for when I transfer them to my Kindle (ie. H1 Book name, H2 Book name etc.) I estimate at least 40% of my library is series and I can re-do them but would prefer to just flick a switch and have them re-appear1

Am I not holding my mouth right or is this a known issue? I have run Library Maintenance and it has found no errors.

Any ideas please?

I dont see how it is possible for an upgrade to cause series to disappear. It is much more likely that the restore did not restore them in the first place. How are you restoring? Note that the official way to do this is using the Export/Import tools you get by right clicking the calibre button on the main toolbar. https://manual.calibre-ebook.com/faq...ter-to-another

Hi Kovid and thanks for such a prompt reply! I'm very impressed (as I am with your CV which I read yesterday!).

I did the backup like that - it, and the restore, took ages so I'm not sure what happened. It was a clean restore and I'm not game to run it again in case I get duplicates of everything, which would be even more of a pain to fix. Mind you, as a very senior Senior Citizen, anything could have happened, but I have been using Calibre for quite a few years now.

Anyway, I guess I'll just work my way through it. I've already found a number of series where I'm missing the latest addition to it, so it's not hurting me to update. I thought there might be an easy answer.

I really appreciate your prompt response though. Cheers, Colleen
