Why convert produce errors in AZW3?

Latest Calibre running on up-to-date Widows10

I have an epub version of a book that shows no errors in Editor>Check for errors.

I convert it to AZW3. The only change I have made is to Justify text.
When I check the AZW3 in the Editor I get a lot of "invalid ID"

Sometimes other errors appear that were not in the Epub version. Such as "image not referenced"

I have also got the "invalid ID" error after converting a non-error AZW3 to AZW3.

Because the validation is for ePub. It's not for KF8.

Image Not Referenced is not an ERROR
It is a WARNING that there are Images that are not used WITHIN the book.

Only the designer knows if THAT was UNINTENDED

BTW you are not alone in jumping to this kind of conclusion. Many Publishing channels REJECT 'Error' free books that only have Warnings
(And there are Devices that Barf on 100% VALIDATOR code )

Thanks JSWolf I thought there might be a simple answer. But I am more simple than most answers.

Thanks theducks I did not have my Calibre to hand when I posed my question and I could not remember exactly what the editor called the missing link. I am aware of the difference and most times I ignore warnings that cannot be resolved by the nuclear option of asking Editor to fix all.

If you think the link is intended.
Look for CaSe differences. Extension differences (jpg vs jpeg). relative path differences.

I just converted a perfectly valid ePub to KF8 using Calibre. I then loaded the KF8 into the editor and ran a check. I did receive invalid ID errors and an not referenced image error.

These are not wrong. The IDs are valid for Kindles and the not referenced image is a thumbnail that was not part of the original ePub. So no, these errors are not errors.

These warnings dont apply for AZW3 as the Kindle can handle the id format and the unreferenced image is a cover thumbnail which cannot be referenced because of the way azw3 works.

Thanks to all - things are a lot clearer.

So, am I right that for Epub to Kindle conversions what is good is to get the Epub clean in the Editor then convert and then do not waste time by checking the azw3 version, just get to the reading.
