Troubleshooting Disable screensaver on paperwhite 2015/2016

Dear all,

I'm new to this forum and a newbie of kindle, got one as a gift and want to turn off the screensaver, I tried the ";debugOn" and "~ds" command I found on here, but it doesn't work, the screensaver keep coming back after a few mins or when I press the power button.

Could anyone please help me on this case? Do i need to root my paperwhite to disable it?

~ds worked for me with the basic Kindle of the same generation as yours (bought in '15). It didn't require rooting. Did you enter the command into the search field? That's where you have to enter it. Did you reboot? If you reboot, the change goes away. There shoudn't be any need to press the power button if the screensaver never comes on. That's the advantage of the ~ds hack. The Kindle always displays the page that was showing when you left the device. When you pick it up again, you can just tap a page turn or tap whatever you want to do.

I stopped using the no screensaver hack when I noticed that it was a battery drain, because the infrared or capacitive (I forget which it uses) sensor uses power and is always on when the screensaver never comes on. Also, with the screensaver never on, unintentional keypresses are common when you put the Kindle in your pocket or anything slightly comes into contact with it. The only way to avoid that is to hold the power button in for 10-15 seconds and tap "screen off" when a popup appears.

Hi Andy,

Yes I typed ;debugOn and ~ds in search field, the screen flashed after I entered the command, not go to the search result page, but the screensaver still come back after 10 mins.

Reli frustrated with this becoz all people said just a simple ~ds command can do it.. Maybe I will try downgrading my kindle and wish ~ds would work.

The only way to disable screensaver / sleep is to jailbreak the kindle

Finally I JB my paperwhite3, install KUAL and KUAL helper+, theres an option to "Prevent screensaver"
