Questions
Hi I have some questions about sharing Calibre across PCs
As far as I can see there are three elements to this 1. Libraries. I have my Libraries in OneDrive amd this works fine 2. Prefernces. If I go Preferences - Misc - Open Directory, I can see that on Windows these are held in my Roaming Profile. Can this location be customised? 3. Plugins. These appear to be held in Plugins2 in Calibre directory. Is this location customisable? I assume, excuse my ignorance, Python plugins run in a Python runtime and are O/S agnostic? It's wish to learn more about Calibre one day but right now it's the naive stuff sorry... Thanks, Steve |

Sharing is fraught with pitfalls
From the Calibre FAQ https://manual.calibre-ebook.com/faq.html#id43 Do spend time reading the FAQ sections. you will find Command line Interface switches that do some of what you ask *IMPLIED: USED WITH LOCAL DRIVES |

Thanks for the reply, but I couldnt find answers to my specific questions in the faq. Of course I have probably missed something, but can you point exactly to the requested information:
How do I customise the location of the Preferences folder How do I customise the location of the Plugins folder Thanks very much |

Plugins (are now in a sub folder) are WITHIN the preferences folder, wherever it may be

1. OK it is correct that the Plugins are withinthe Preferences directory - I had assumed that was for plugin customisation but no its the plugins themselves. This means that installed plugins on a pc will vary per user which is kind of weird? But ok.
2. I had already looked at the customize.html page of the manual before posting here. I don't see anything there on how to customise the location of the Preferences directory??? So I'm still lost on that??? |

Ok i now also seem to have my preferences and plugins in OneDrive.
So I should have the identical Calibre on my PC in Frankfurt, my PC in London and my Laptop on wifi. Mission accomplished! Very good! |
