Adding own columns - changes Modified Date - BUG ?

Hi,

I maintain a own column (that columns is there for more than 2 years)

Lookup_name: orig_format
Heading: Format
Type: text but with fixed set permitted values
Values: epub,mobi,fb2,multiple

Lately i wanted to add a Value, azw3 - doing this results in changing the Modified Date Value of ALL books to the current day even without touching any book.

so Modified cant be used for sorting anymore as all values are current date 08 Jan 2017.

is this an expected behavior ? I have 2000 + books in that particular lib, and modified date is one of most important columns for me.

Pete ...

Yes, it is expected behavior. Modified date does not mean the date you last modified the metadata of a book, it means the date the metadata of the book was changed in any way at all. Adding a new column changes the metadata of the book, since it now has a new metadata field. Similarly, if you happen to rename an author or tag, to say, change its case, the last modified date of all books with that author or tag will change.

Have a look at this thread: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=259477
Not sure if it's what you want, but it may be relevant. Chaley's solution (#2) works fine for me.
