Calibre database access issues

I'm having database access issues for a number of tasks in Calibre - the output from a simple move book between libraries is given below. I'm getting these issues on both a full install of Calibre plus a portable install on a work laptop that I do not have full admin rights on so wondering if this is related?

calibre, version 2.76.0

One of the Libraries (Destination) is locked or in use (Local drive)

Network drives are iffy and officially not supported (see FAQ)

Thanks for the reply. My Calibre database is on my NAS on local network and never had any problems before - any way to unlock the database?

Nor did the other folks who ran into problems running calibre over a network, some chose to ignore and others didn't bother reading the first line of this FAQ ==>> I am getting errors with my calibre library on a networked drive/NAS?

It may not be locked as such, could be corrupt, as the FAQ says, NAS file systems are often incomplete, flaky etc.

You could try moving the library onto a local drive and rebuilding the database at that location via Library Maintenance->Restore Database. Whether you then transfer the library back to the NAS is up to you. But your planning assumption should be that it won't work, and even if it does it may not be for long.

Also try a reboot of the NAS in case it's locked the files by mistake.

Thanks for the responses. I have rebooted my NAS but database is still locked. I'd like to use Calibre across multiple computers so will read the FAQ's and forums and investigate ways of making this work....

Ah this looks great so will delve in now! I'm trying to have single application DB's on my NAS with multiple clients accessing it for all my media apps (ditto with Kodi for movies and TV) so that read/viewed status, pause/resume etc. are all in single place. It's a struggle but determined to get there and great to see the apps moving in that direction also.....
