How to sync Kindle and Pc
I sometimes read on my Kindle and sometimes on my desktop using the Kindle app. When I finish on one and later pick up on the other, how can I ensure that I pick up where I left off on the other device?

At the moment that's not happening. If I stop on my Kindle PC app, and later pick up on the Kindle Paperwhite, it takes me to the last place I was on the Paperwhite. How do I keep them in sync?

Be sure the wifi is on and click on sync and check for new items.

Both Kindle for PC and Kindle for Mac don't have access to Personal docs archive (= book you've send via "Send to Kindle" app or e-mailed using Calibre or any other app/service that sends book to Kindle's email address), as in those books are not even visible withing PC app so can't be downloaded via PC app directly.
So you can't have Last-Page-Read and notes synced between PC and anything (Kindle device or Kindle apps for mobile OSs).

Not sure if PC apps would keep PDOCs in sync if you would : download the book on you Paperwhite and then connect it to you PC to manually copy the book file from PW's "Documents" folder to where PC app keeps downloaded books (was it Documents> My Kindle Content?)

I haven't used Kindle for PC since I've bought my first Kindle in 2010.

I still have a problem
Here's what happens:
I read on the Paperwhite, put it to sleep, wait a few minutes. Then I open the PC Kindle app and it (usually but not always) tells me I have read to a further location on the PW and would I like to go there.

I tap OK, and then continue reading for another chapter or so. When finished I exit the Kindle app.

A few minutes later I wake up the PW and it's still where I left off. Sometimes when I click on the top to open the menu bar it tells me the PC app is at a further location and do I want to go there. Sometimes it waits until I click on Sync my Kindle to tell me that. And sometimes when I click on Sync my Kindle it just says there are no new items and leaves me where I am.

Whispersync is on everywhere. WiFi is on. My internet connection remains stable. What am I doing wrong?

I am not sure, but perhaps if you sync the kindle app before exiting it may help.

I know the e-ink kindles sync their position when you put them to sleep, but it is likely that when you exit the PC app it closes immediately without syncing.

I sync'ed the PC app as you suggested and now all seems to be good. Thanks for the help.

Yes, puchased from Amazon and Whispersync'd to both the PC app and the Paperwhite. The problem seems to be that I wasn't sync'ing the app before closing it, so there was no record of where I had stopped reading.
