[Android] Problem with custom column not syncing
When I first set Calibre up, many moons ago, I set up a special column for read/unread, a simple yes/no. It always worked with Calibre Companion, so when I connected using the Cloud Connection, my columns synced, and I could see which books I'd marked as read on my tablet or phone.
With the new version of Calibre, the Read version doesn't work. The On Device column is fine, but Calibre and Calibre Companion don't seem to be syncing, whichever option I try. I've altered nothing, except updating to the newest version of Calibre. I'm running Calibre Companion on a Nexus 7 with Marshmallow android. |

Moderator Notice I made this into its own thread because it isn't related to the double-book problem described in the other thread We need more information. As Dopedangel said, the cloud connection does not sync back to calibre, and it never has done so. Did you mean the Wireless Device connection? If not, did you use the WD connection in the past? If you are using the WD connection, syncing is-read back to calibre isn't working? |

Btw Chaley do you think calibre companion writing a small file in the cloud with the metadata changes if any. And calibre syncing those would be feasible. Although if you do go this route the syncing should be done manually not automatic. So a press an option deliberately makes the file with the changes and a plugin in calibre imports those changes.
Just an idea I had seeing as how many people use the cloud connection. Sent from my SM-G925I using Tapatalk |

Yes, I meant WD connection, sorry! I fixed it, though I don't know how. I suspect it was a setting. After a lot of fiddling, I deleted both programs and reinstalled them, keeping the settings on the main Calibre program and starting from scratch on CC. Hooked it up and it worked! I can now see the ticks and crosses in the Read column (I use the cross for DNF, leave it blank for not read yet).
Thank you for your replies. That it worked when I set it up again would tend to be either a corrupt program, or a setting that reset itself when I reinstalled. |
