How do you hold your E-Reader?
Hey guys,
What is your preferred grip or hold when reading with your e-reader? Do you change depending on the device? Any sagely advise? Hoping to have a healthy discussion and to learn a few tips and tricks along with other readers in the forum while waiting for the H20 to come in the mail. ![]() |

i use a cover so I can hold it and operate the page turn buttons one (right) handed when reading in bed.
When sitting, I hold the reader in my right hand and use the LEFT page turn buttons. BTW I use it in Portrait Mode (except for wide maps) |

I have a T3. I generally hold it in my left hand with the bottom edge resting on my fourth finger with the first through third supporting it at the back. This leaves my thumb free for the page buttons. I am mostly right handed so this leaves my right hand free for other things (such as nachos).
If I hold it in my right hand, I support it with my thumb in such a way that my right thumb reaches the buttons and my fingers are supporting the reader from behind. I can reader either left handed or right but I prefer to hold the reader with my left. If I have to read on a device with no buttons (i.e. reading PDF files on a tablet) then I have to use both hands, one for support and one for page turns. Which is why an ereader without buttons is not in my future. |

With my JetBook Lite I hold it in my left hand. This positions my thumb over the page advance "slider" and my fingers over the battery bulge.
My next favorite ereader is my Nook Simple Touch. I'm still most likely to hold it in my left hand -- probably out of habit -- but occasionally I hold it in my right. There are page advance buttons on both sides. I prefer buttons. |

Interesting grips and been trying it out myself though I guess I'm not all familiar with some of the device types and build. BTW I have a kindle paperwhite 3 as my reader and I usually hold it with my right hand. I start on the bottom frame with the thumb slanted center bottom front, rest of fingers at back curled slant for support although I end up reading almost lying down from a sitting start so I hold it with 3 support fingers at the back and my index and thumb on an "L " shape following the the bottom frame to prevent it from slipping to my face.

I keep changing my grip on the Kindle, with or without a cover. I'll hold it in my right hand and swipe with my left and then I'll shift it to my left hand and swipe with my right. Sometimes I hold it by the left or right side, sometimes more towards the bottom. I don't think I have any characteristic method of holding it or if I do I'm not aware of it.

I always hold in my left hand with my thumb on the page turn button. Sometimes I lay down and use two hands to hold it, balanced on my stomach.

I bought a generic tablet holder for the Inkbook. It will stand it up like an easel if I'm eating.
The Inkbook has page buttons so no smearing the screen. (I keep wipes handy) Sit it on the arm of the recliner or sit it in my lap. I don't hold it. |

I have a folding cover on my H2O. I mostly hold it with my right hand. Though sometimes I use my left hand. I don't need buttons as I use my thumbs to swipe.

I don't have a grip since I don't actually hold my ebook reader when I'm using it. Most of the time, I prop it on a stand or easel.
On my lap: and on the table: If I don't have either with me, I'll lay it flat wherever I am (the steering wheel in my car is at a good angle. ![]() |

I tend to hold my Kobo in my left hand, thumb on the bezel, the rest of my hand supporting the device. I have to use my right hand to turn pages. I really miss my old Nook STG, where I could read one handed, changing pages with my thumb.
Sometimes when I'm really slouched down in a chair, I hold the Kobo in both hands, index fingers in the sides and thumbs along the bottom, almost making my hands a(n American) football goal. I've learned whatever I do, be careful with the bottom of the device as I have accidentally ejected the SD card. That was really poorly designed by Kobo (the covered SD card slot is another thing I miss about the Nook). |
