AZW2 running as framework
Hi all,
My first post here - long-time lurker. I bow to the greatness of so many of you on this forum! Based on posts, I have been able to jailbreak a KT and get a chroot Debian system up and running a Linux X app. To run this from the main menu, I created a simple AZW2 to launch my launch script. It works great on KT. However, when I try on the KT2 (the Basic 2014 model), it didn't work! I did some digging and realized that on the KT, the AZW2 runs as root but in the KT2, it run as framework. Framework doesn't have the same permissions as root, obviously. Does this ring a bell with anyone? Is there any known way on the KT2 to have it run as root? I'm sure I have left out some relevant details. Please ask if there's anything I can clarify to have this make more sense. Thanks, hjk --- |

An old problem, already solved: Gandalf.
If you followed the directions on this site - If you completed Step #6 - It is already installed. Read the "Bridge" scripting to see an example of how to use it. Last edited by knc1; 11-18-2016 at 08:55 PM. |

The set of directions you followed was not the cause of your application running as user 'framework'. That was a design change (long ago) by Amazon/Lab126. But there is an another point to my referencing our own set of directions, we can not support the result of someone else's directions or someone else's idea of proper set of "various posts" in the proper order. That would be like you asking your automobile dealer to correct and/or repair, under their warranty, at their cost, the improper work of some shade-tree mechanic. That is just not going to happen, either in the auto repair world or in the world of after-market, Kindle, add-ins. What I did mean was where you could find the utility you need to use and worked examples of the scripting to use it. (If you followed our instructions, it is installed on your Kindle with a copy in user storage under the directory sub-tree /mkk). Last edited by knc1; 11-19-2016 at 08:51 AM. |
