PaperWhite: Need help / advice please

Hello,

As new user of a Kindle Paper White, i need help / good advises to do the correct actions
Situation is not stanbard, as the device was used by a past companion, and i don't live any more with that person without any more exchange possible (difficult separation) and i found the device without any info ...

State of the Paper White:
- After recharging the device: turn on, possible to read book inside (no code), possible to put file inside by USB from a PC, account no more open and not possible to me to connect on amazon services.
- Version: Spending time to identify which version it is, i finaly find that the device is the first version (Europe version)
- Version: Inside was 5.3.1, and i upgrade to 5.3.5 (Read that is the best version to permit Jailbreak ?). Not Jailbreaked now.
- Connect param: Plane mode for the moment.

For that device, in my case, what can i do in that situation, and the good way to follow.
- The firmware to put in the device: Stay in 5.3.5 or putting the 5.6.1.1 version ? Or an other version ?
- What about Jailbreak ? With it a lot of possibility to install other functions ... first step to do ?
=> What is the good file/process to follow in my case (PW1 2012 with 5.3.5) ?
- What about Amazon services: If i understand, this need valid account/access, and the last firmware right ? Do i need it, i don't know ?
=> I don't want to brick the device or lock it, so the device is in plane mode to block Auto Upgrade.
=> I want to use program/function open by a jailbreak ....

Click on settings. Click on deregister and register it under your account.
That should help.
Don't worry about the rest right now.

Oh and sorry about your breakup.

You can open your own Amazon Account. & register it.

I would suggest that you begin by doing a factory reset. That will give you a known state from which to start.
