Question Trying to find an ebook

I bought a digital manga at the Kobo store website, I wanted to use Paypal and Kobo accepts it. I'd like that to download it and convert it into a PDF so it makes reading it on the PC easier.

The thing is there is no place in my Kobo Library on the website to download it. So I use the PC Kobo app, which I never use, to see if it's there, and the ebook gets added in my Library. But when I right-click on the ebook the menu doesn't show me what I want: "Show me where on my hard disk this ebook is". In the Kindle app and Adobe Digital Editions app that part appears when I right-click on an ebook so I copy-paste the ebooks that way. But it's nowhere to be found in the Kobo App.

Where is my ebook?

And I'm regretting buying the ebook at the Kobo's website.

On a Windows machine, try hitting Windows-R and then pasting:

%localappdata%\Kobo\Kobo Desktop Edition\kepub

into the Open box.

Please note the ebook's name is likely to be a string of letters/numbers with no filename extension so a bit of fun locating it.

Thanks!

I was able to find a file there. Which extension should I give it?

Remember certain content is NOT supported on all devices but is restricted to only Tablets or PCs. This content is normally fixed layout (which I presume would include Manga).

It's possible that Alf might be able to help but I'm not certain about that.

It depends. Firstly, As PeterT said, there might be DRM involved. In that case you need to visit with Apprentice Alf and Obok (either standalone or the calibre plugin).

All my books as downloaded to the Kobo app are in kepub format. This is basically an epub but with Kobo specific formatting. If this is what the book is, and there is no DRM, then adding epub as the extension will work. If it a kepub with DRM, then Obok is needed.

If it is not a kepub, Kobo do have a format used for comic books. These are readable through the Kobo iOS and Android apps. I have no idea what the internal format of these books are. The books page in the Kobo store should have had the format and the reading methods at the bottom of the page. If you can post the link to this, or give the title and author, then we can see what it says and maybe answer the question better.

Also, you said there is nowhere in the library on the store to download it. Are you saying it isn't in the list of books in your library? If it is, clicking the three dots on the line shows a menu and one of the items should be to export the book.
