Cailbre starts with "conntected Android Phone"
![]() Good Morning, I´ve a serious problem since some days: Calibre (latest Version) starts always showing a connected Android Phone, but there is nothing connected. No books included, available space 13,1 GB. I can disconnect it, but when I connect my Pocketbook via USB, it will not appear. Before this problem came up, Pocketbook was detected without problem and Android Phone (with installed Calibre Companion) via WLAN too. I already tried to make a failure Analysis (miscellaneous) without result: “…Device (Android Phone) was already detected by calibre. Disconnect this device first…”. Before I started analysis, I disconnected it definitely! I also cut wireless connection in “connect/share”. De-installation entirely (even deleting all files in \appdata\Roaming\calibre) and new installation did not change anything: caliber starts with “connected Android Phone”. May anybody help me, please? Peter |

Run calibre in debug mode (right click preferences button) and you will get a log that will show what device it is connecting to.

Thanks for caring about this issue. I did as proposed, please find file enclosed. Another info: I changed location of caliber library and defined it by running the welcome assistant.

You have a disk connected that has the same USB ids as an android phone
VEN_INTENSO&PROD_SLIM_LINE which is vendor intenso product slim line Either disconnect that or in calibre disable the android driver plugin in preferences->plugins. |

Additional information: When creating this error log above, no Reader was connected via USB. Drive K:\ is a normal USB-Stick and no Reader device.
Drive Z:\ is is containing calibre library with 109 books, which are shown correctly in calibre. Peter |

Oh,
the library was moved to Z:\ which is located on the USB-stick. And this stickl will be detected as "device" by calibre?! |

I think I know now what happens:
I changed location of caliber library from local hard disc to a USB-Stick (Z:\) and this stick will be detected as device… I did so because I would have the library with me to use it on my netbook when I travel. I found in setting “ignored devices”, can I use this here to come around my problem? |

To make it (hopefully) more clear what I did:
USB-Stick (K:\) contains a TrueCrypt-Volume. This container will be opened as drive Z:\ which contains calibre library. In "ignored devices" stick will not appear, so I can`t deactivate it. Calibre will find library correctly but detects the stick as device what is "wrong" in my special case. When I switch back library location to local hard disc and remove the stick, calibre starts as usual. I fear that I can´t run this special construct?! |

Pay heed to Kovids advice
and yes, you CAN use a USB stick... Just not that (poorly configured) BRAND |

Hello,
Disconnecting stick will not work because the library is stored there, but deactivating Android plugin was successful. Stick will no londer be showen as device. Wired connected Pocketbook and wireless connected Android will work as before. Sorry for this post, I did not get the fact that the usb-stick will be detected as device and was pretty confused about. Thanks a lot for your great support! Peter |
