About Pocketbook Touch Lux 3 bookshelve support

Hi,

I can manage Kobo Glo bookshelves (Kobo call them collections) by creating custom "collection" column, and entering "#collection" into KoboTouch device settings.

Though I cannot find out how to setup bookshelves for Pocketbook Touch Lux 3 my father owns.

Is it simply not (yet, I hope) supported, or I should search for solution somewhere else, not in device settings?

Thanks.

P.S. thanks for great software, by the way!

There is no support for it. In order to support it, someone witht he device would have to modify the device driver to do it.

If the pocketbook stores its database in the userstore, so calibre can access it when the device is plugged into the computer, then it could probably be done.
But you'll need someone who owns the device and is willing to invest the time in updating the device driver to do that.

With "device driver" you meant Calibre plugin?
Thanks for your replies.

Well, yes, but really it could and should be merged into the builtin plugin.

PocketBook supports hierarchical directories.
I use "Save to disk" in Calibre to create hierarchical directory with author name/[series]/[series number - ]title paths.
Then I use "create catalog" to create nice hyperlinked list of all books, authors, tags, blurbs, covers ...

PocketBook does have bookshelves or favorites, but in recent versions of firmware the functionality was severely limited in comparison with older versions.

There is not much motivation to develop driver for this, because as I said PocketBooks have support for hierarchical directories, so it is possible to organize books in a sane way without collections or bookshelves or whatever other brands have to use. Some devices, such as Kindle or Kobo do not support subfolders, so users have to use some means of organization if they want to navigate more than a handful of books.

Remember though that a directory based approach does not let you assign a book to multiple collections / bookshelves, which (at least) the Kobo approach does let you do.

Is there any news about the support of Pocketbook shelves in Calibre ?
I could do some tests, or retrieve informations in the device (if you tell me how) but I'm not able to code.
