Two libraries - different languages
Over the years I have built up a substantial library of books in English - no problems.
Now I have moved to France and, as a way of mastering the French language, I have started building up a library of books in French. However, downloading metadata seems to be very hit and miss. Sometimes the results are in English, sometimes in French and, quite often, neither (i.e. nothing). I'm using the same metadata sources as I always have. Are there others I should be using? For instance, would amazon.fr produce more consistent results for the French library? If so, do I have to set up different sources for each library? If so, how do I do that? Merci very much! |

Some metadata source Plugins have 'branch to use' configurations: Amazon is one. Others are specific to Country-outlet. read about the PI in the Index of the Plugins sub forum
Others use ISBN (10: the first digit, ISBN13: 4th is Language) or The value in the {Languages} column BTW Calibre has only 1 Configuration folder.. You might need to put the 'other' language into a Calibre Portable (drive) configuration to be able to customize that, without disturbing the 'main' install |

Thanks theducks. "Hit and miss" seems to be the favoured route at the moment; somehow the older I get, the more I appreciate the KISS principle!

I have a very multilingual library (I read in six languages and am about to start reading in the seventh one) and for some of them, local metadata sources (Internet bookstores featuring books in just one language, other than English, local book databases etc.) produce much better results than my usual sources for English would. |
