About EPUB files

Hi All

First please forgive me for my very vert bad English

I wont to sak about EPUB format in Calibre, i added the book to the library and made some changes in the book metadata and changed the cover and saved it
but the files always saved as three separated file one named cover.jpg
and the next is metadata.opf the the last is City of Bones.epub

i wont to copy the book to my not3 (it did not show as a device in the program)
but i need the EPUB (one file)
i tried to copy City of Bones.epub only it did not work (am using Aldiko on my not3)
i tried to copy the three files it did not work
i tried convert the file (EPUB to EPUB)and gave it new name but the concerted copy was a three files also

what should i do to get ONE EPUB file with the changes that i made

thank you in advance for your help

"You" should never copy files out of Calibre's library. Instead, you should "ask" Calibre to do it for you.

You should either:
  • Use Calibre's "Save to Disk" function to "export" a copy to a folder outside of the library and then you can copy that file to your device.
  • Connect the device to your computer and have Calibre "Send to device" for you.

Your reader may have a feature to fetch books from a cloud drive. I've found that method the easiest for me. From Calibre I "copy to disk" to my local dropbox folder which moves them to the cloud. My reader has a feature that can pull it from that source.

When you Copy or Send, the EPUB copied or sent will contain the updated metadata.

But you can turn that off. I do that because I don't want my ePub converted on the fly. There are better ways to update the metadata without a conversion. I would use the Modify ePub plugin to update the metadata without any sort of conversion.

Huh? Calibre doesn't do a conversion when sending a book to the device unless you don't have a format that the device supports. It does update the metadata. Except for one thing, this is the same a using Embed metadata, or just the update metadata option of Polish books. And it's probably the same as what Modify ePub does.

The one difference: if there is an appropriate metadata plugboard, that will be used.
