My Kobo Aura One experience in a nutshell

Got an Aura One yesterday, charged it to max, noticed uneven Comfort Light in the evening, imprecise and sometimes laggy touchscreen while typing notes to books. Then this morning, battery almost depleted, battery low warning, device goes back. (my device of comparison: a Kobo Aura H2O)
May return in a couple of months, neat little thing if it was working...

I had the same issue on the H2O running this firmware (which you're not supposed to do, so take it with a grain of salt), posted over in the firmware thread https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...84#post3393684

The device did not actually go to sleep (while displaying Sleeping screen) and something kept eating away the battery over night. Only with the 10% battery warning did it finally actually go to sleep for me to discover the next day.

Today it was fine for me, maybe there is a strange firmware bug triggered under mysterious circumstances.

I think other Aura One owners also reported having this issue only erratically.

When I first got my Kobo on the 14th I thought it was great, very responsive, though I did have a light issue. Called Kobo support about my light yesterday and they made me do a factory reset. It updated the firmware again, and now the touch is often unresponsive or very laggy. I wonder if they upgraded the firmware and it got more buggy.

Yep, touchscreen is very laggy (especially on the keyboard) and unresponsive compared to my H2O. Hope this will be fixed by a firmware upgrade. Also I can't enter my credit card details in the store, quite annoying as there is nothing wrong with what i entered.

I love the screen, but the software is buggy. The battery life on my device seemed great (~9 hours of reading drained 28% of the battery) until I put my device to sleep and came back 3 hours later only to find that the battery indicator had gone from 72% to 62% for no reason. It also froze once while reading an epub. The screen became completely unresponsive and the device started highlighting words by itself. I had to restart to fix it.
Epubs are slow for some reason while kepubs work perfectly.

Sounds like it is stuck doing some background task, chewing up the CPU, hence unresponsive to touch and draining the battery.

Ian McEwan just published a novel titled Nutshell, which tells exactly this story

Seems like an accurate paraphrase of the OP as well.

Blotchy screen with gray blob that runs over an inch from the bottom, battery drains rapidly, keyboard is often off by one key to the right... waiting for RMA email and hoping the next one is better.
